I painted this two Xmas ago for my portfolio. I had just gotten a Cintiq Wacom tablet from my husband and was so excited to use it during the holidays. Unfortunately Painter was unstable and I lost 8 hours worth of work on my painting! Luckily I had a old psd version. Now I save 2 redundant copies and have an external hard drive! I used photo references from an aquarium I visted during my honeymoon (yes, always thinking of art...and kung fu). I think if I were to redo this composition, I would have had a more intimate interaction between the characters. I still want to depict the little mermaid meeting the sea witch. I think that would be an awesome piece of artwork.

Beautiful piece! One critique though... the position of her hands. It seems like an unnatural position. Would seem difficult to grip and pull someone up with both hands facing the same way. But other than that, like I said, it's beautiful.
