This was commissioned for the coffee book called In the Creation and the Garden of Eden to be published by Centaur Books. I tried to paint a slightly devious looking Eve, because she had already eaten of the fruit before offering the apple to Adam. Is her motive to share knowledge with him or make him a partner in crime? Although I don't believe having reason is a bad thing. He is in the pose from Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel fresco of Adam touching the finger of God. There he is given the gift of life, here Adam is being endowed with knowledge...or using his mind...I intentionally omitted the snake. I think the snake is too commonplace in the allegory and two, I hate snakes...lol!
Eve was a Goddess archetype made into being wrong and sinful. She chose wisdom.
Gorgeous. I like how Adam is positioned similar to when he's reaching for God in a famous painting. Honestly a beautiful piece
And the mystery is: did they have bellybuttons or not?
nice work but it might be better if she was looking at him. just change her eyes.
Nice work. He looks like Colin Farrell, a bit.
